]]>A key business reason why recycling is important is because it’s a simple way to save money and improve the bottom line. Recycling programs could allow for cost avoidance and better yet, free up funds for other environmentally friendly initiatives.
Find out more on how a reclamation and recycling programme with Essex Reclamation can help your business save money.
When your business makes sustainable choices and implements a recycling program, Essex Reclamation has the potential to sell your recyclable waste for alternative uses. Recyclable materials are now a commodity, so we can help you maximise this opportunity.
In this day and age it’s not only clients who are demanding more sustainable services and products but employees are too.
People are more motivated to work for a sustainable company. Recent studies have found that workplace sustainability and recycling is more important to millennials than previous generations. Almost one in 10 millennials would be willing to quit a job if their employer wasn’t sustainable. This is relevant to your business as more millennials plan to change jobs within the next two years than past generations.
Most people want to do the right thing for the environment and future generations. Implementing a recycling program in your organization is a great way that team members can work together to make an impact – it encourages people to keep each other accountable.
The results can also be used to highlight the CSR side of the business and create quality content for social media. Partnerships with businesses like PrintReleaf can also give your business the authentication by replanting trees and offsetting your paper usage.
A key reason why recycling is important for a business is because of the positive impacts on the environment. It helps the environment by:
Saves Energy
It uses less energy to reuse and recycle than it does to produce the same material from scratch.
Saving up to 95% of the energy used on recycling aluminum cans and bottles compared to when using raw materials to produce them.
Diverts More Waste From Landfill
Our Landfills are not only filling up but the harmful emissions from non-biodegradable waste will be a danger for years to come
According to the EPA fact sheet, our landfills are filled with the following waste which could be easily recycled:
The figures show by reclaiming and recycling the above, 63% could be saved from landfill.
Prevents Global warming
Pulp and paper is one of the largest industrial energy consumers on the planet. Recycling paper instead uses 65% less energy than producing new paper products from raw materials. This intern reduces our greenhouse gas emissions.

Mary joined the company in 2019 and primarily runs the Weighbridge for the company but also as a relief HGV driver when the need arises. She has spent many years in the transport sector and the skills she has developed are of great use to Essex Reclamation Ltd.
Mandy joined us 2011 and has worked in the Weighbridge Office providing administrative support in all aspects of the business during that time.
She has developed a great knowledge of the industry over the years and her helpful manner and cheery disposition is a great asset to the office.
A big thank you to you both.

]]>Recycling reduces the need to grow, harvest or extract new raw materials from the Earth which lessens disruption and damage: fewer forests cut down, rivers diverted, wild animals harmed or displaced, and less pollution of water, soil and air. What’s more if plastic waste isn’t safely put in the recycling, it can be blown or washed into rivers and seas and end up hundreds or thousands of miles away, polluting coastlines and waterways.
The world’s increasing demand for new stuff has led to more of the poorest and most vulnerable people (for example, those living around forests or river systems) being displaced from their homes. Forest communities can find themselves evicted as a result of the search for cheap timber and rivers can be damned or polluted by manufacturing waste.
Making products from recycled materials requires less energy than making them from new raw materials: making paper from pulped recycled paper uses 40% less energy than making it from virgin wood fibres.
Essex Reclamation has over 40 year’ experience in recycling at the very highest and most competitive level. Its state of the art recycling sites, machinery and highly trained and qualified staff means a smart, efficient and trustworthy service – every time!

]]>Does your office have lots of old documents and paperwork lying around? It’s impractical, an eyesore and not good for staff to see. If you were to shred your documents you’d free up space for anything you want, and not only that, but you’ll also have a much better-looking working environment too.
By law businesses need to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of its employees and clients. Personal data stored on paper copies are more easily accessible than those stored digitally, locked down and secured with passwords. Therefore, it is extremely important to make sure these documents don’t fall into the wrong hands.
With GDPR, there are penalties for those that fail to comply with the privacy regulations, and there can be fines of as much as 4% of annual global turnover.
Any documents containing personal details can be used by someone to steal an identity. If you don’t shred your documents before you dispose of them, identity thieves can steal details to sign up for credit cards, passports or other documents under a stolen persona.
It sounds far-fetched for someone to spend time going through a bin looking for people’s data, but they do doit .
At Essex Reclamation, our aim is to send zero waste to landfill sites and ensure your confidential documents and waste are completely recycled. This means less waste is sent to landfill sites which reduces pollution to the land, sky and water.
Finally, you save time and effort by letting Essex Reclamation shred your confidential documents. You and your team have special skill sets, so it isn’t beneficial to waste energy trying to clear and destroy boxes of paperwork .
A simple example of not just saving time but money is an employee who earns £15.00 per hour spending 10 minutes shredding a day equals an annual saving of £632.00.
