Kay Short
Managing Director

Kay started her career in Human Resources in the City but joined Essex Reclamation after starting a family and has been with the business for over 25 years now.
Joining the family business in the early 1990s she has helped develop the company and watched it grow. Upon joining the company there were 5 staff, now there are over 40.

Chris Short
Director

Chris has worked in the business for almost 50 years and helped build the company alongside it’s founder Bob Short in the 1970’s
Chris has seen many changes to the recycling industry over this time and played an integral part in moving the company forward to where it is today.

John Bassett Director
New Business and Materials

John has been in the recycling industry for over 30 years bringing his experience to Essex Reclamation in July 2007 to start our plastics division as well as being the Business Development Manager.
Over the past 15 years the plastic division has become an important part of the business. 6 years ago John introduced the business to DMR and we now run 2 DMR sorting lines for Mixed Papers and Plastics.
John continues to look at ways to increase the range of services offered by Essex Reclamations as well as looking for new domestic and export markets for our baled materials.

Marcin Pycka
Director Production

Marcin travelled to the UK from Poland in 2004 and joined the business soon after. He has progressed within the business over the years and through hard work and initiative and is now Production Manager, Marcin has an extremely busy role ensuring efficiency and quality and his knowledge of the industry and smooth running of the yard area is second to none.

Mandy Bailey
Administrator

Mandy joined the company in 2011 and has worked in the Weighbridge Office providing administrative support in all aspects of the business during that time.
She has developed a great knowledge of the industry over the years and her helpful manner and cheery disposition is a great asset to the office.

Rihanna Volckman
Administrative Assistant

Rhianna Volckman joined the team in Summer of 2024 and settled in straight away. Her sunny disposition and willingness to help is a great hit with our clients, visitors and staff. Her organisational and IT skills are a real asset to the business.

Aaron Volckman
Production Supervisor

Aaron is responsible for assisting our Manager with production, ensuring quality, productivity and efficiency with the core of our business.
Aaron has been with the business since 2015 when he joined as a fresh faced 19 year old.

Kirsty Norman
Administrator

Kirsty joined the team in 2008 and has been the mainstay of our administration function for many years, there’s not a lot she doesn’t know about our business and customers.Leaving in 2020 to have her son Elijah, she decided to return to us last year and provides support to the whole team, her experience is invaluable.

John Chipperfield
Transport Manager

John has worked in the Team for 10 years as an HGV driver and has taken on the role of Transport Manager in addition to this.
He has many years’ experience in the transport sector and is responsible for our compliance and best practice with our Transport.
